Transfer window: When can Chelsea start signing players this summer?

According to Sky Sports, there is to be a change in the transfer window dates, where Premier League clubs will now be able to conduct business beginning the 17th of May, and close on the 9th of August.

The transfer window in England is set to open on Thursday.

Previously, the transfer window deadline has closed at 11pm on August 31.

The window will officially open on May 17 - just four days after the end of the season and means business may also be conducted while the World Cup in Russian Federation is taking place.

The reason for bringing forward the opening of the window is due to the Premier League's plans to also close the window before a ball is kicked next season and the decision was reached to comply with Fifa's rules relating to transfers.

However, Liverpool will now have more time in the summer to negotiate for potential transfers.

The Soccer League, whose window for everlasting signings has already reopened, have additionally confirmed they may adjust to the August 9 pre-season deadline.

That's because other leagues have different windows and will still be open. In Italy and Germany it will be on July 1 and in Spain it will be on July 2.

Clubs involved in play-offs can sign players now - but cannot play them until their season is over.

The EFL transfer window opened on May 7.
