According to a report in The Washington Post, Apple has been searching for places to put hubs as it contemplates how to spend the $30 billion it has committed for new facilities and 20,000 new employees in the US over the next five years - and it looks like Virginia is on the list. It's in close proximity to three major universities-Duke, N.C. State, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill-and has a wealth of talent from people that Apple could attract to its company.

On paper, the North Carolina Research Triangle Park seems like a solid choice. Cooper has reportedly been negotiating an incentive package to entice Apple, but such a package is said to still need approval from the North Carolina state legislature. Apple is only seeking about 4 million square feet, while Amazon is looking for about 8 million square feet.
