Dinamo Brest appoint Maradona as chairman

Diego Maradona became the Chairman of the Board of the club "Dinamo-Brest", the official Twitter of the Belarusian club.

Maradona's new club are eighth in Belarus' Premier League after the first seven matches of the season, 12 points behind dominant side BATE Borisov.

Confirming the appointment on social media, Brest tweeted: "Yes, Diego is with us".

The Argentina legend, 57, signed a three-year deal with the club and will take up his new role after the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation.

A press conference featuring Diego Maradona and representatives of the Brest football club will take place at the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi, in the near future.

With Fujairah he left the club after failing to secure promotion to the UAE's top flight in April.

Maradona will supervise strategic development and cooperate with all structural departments, including the Academy of Dynamo Brest, according to a statement on the club's website. "Thank you for the confidence and for thinking of me".

Brest, who won the Belarusian Cup past year and its Super Cup in March, said Maradona will be officially introduced as chairman at Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Diego Maradona will start his job at Dynamo Brest after the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation. He had previously managed Al Wasl, but was dismissed in July 2012, midway through a two-year contract.
