BSNL rolls out Rs 118 prepaid plan to take on Reliance Jio

The Rs 118 prepaid plan comes with the benefits of unlimited local STD and roaming voice calls and data benefit for a validity of 28 days. The Rs 98 prepaid recharge plan of Reliance Jio falls under its "most affordable plans" category while the Rs 52 and Rs 98 prepaid recharge plans are offered under Reliance Jio's "sachet packs" category.

Rs 429 plan of BSNL gives unlimited Local, STD and roaming Calls. The pack comes with a validity of 28 days.

For example, if you are using the Rs. 199 pack that presently offers 1.4GB data per day, you'll no longer need to recharge for a separate pack once you exceed the 1.4GB quota and you will receive data at a speed of 128Kbps after surpassing the daily limit.

The price vs data war is surely getting intense, and incumbent telecom operators are trying everything to compete with Reliance Jio. Many other telcos like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular have learned the ways of RJio offers, but to a government-owned company like BSNL, it had to think big something out of the box. BSNL is also offering 128Kbps of data speed. The state-run telecom operator, BSNL, recently launched Rs 39 prepaid plan that offers unlimited voice calls to the subscribers. Apart from this, the BSNL signature caller tune will automatically get activated for free post recharge of the pack. The "unlimited" calls are, however, limited to 250 minutes per day and 1,000 minutes per week. Also there are freebies which will be revealed once you recharge the pack, but they are available till 81 days. This remains unchanged from the other packs offered by the telco. Voice calls are unlimited and 300 SMS are offered.

As reported by TelecomTalk, all Airtel subscribers who have purchased any unlimited prepaid packs will get the after FUP speed of 128kbps. BSNL has announced this new plan to take on Reliance Jio's Rs 98 plan. There is no further information on full-fledged launch across India.
