Steven Spielberg's $10 Billion Box Office Take a First

Ready Player One has grossed an estimated $114.9 million in the US with a global total of $475.1 million after three weeks in theaters, but even more impressive is what this means for director Steven Spielberg.

In actual dollars, "Jurassic Park" has been Spielberg's biggest money maker at $983 million worldwide followed by "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" at $786.6 million.

Steven Spielberg's cinematic career has been ripe with success and accolades, as only two of his feature films grossed under $100 million at the worldwide box office. With one extraordinary film after another and every single of them become a cult classic such as Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Indiana Jones series, Saving Private Ryan, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Catch Me If You Can, Lincoln and the list is goes on, the director has not only won the hearts of fans but also, consistently, garnered critical-acclaim.

Directors Michael Bay and Peter Jackson are next on the list with their movies reaching $6.5 billion globally each. His peers, such as Peter Jackson ($6.5 billion over six Middle Earth movies and three other flicks), Michael Bay ($6.45 billion over 13 movies), James Cameron ($6.1 billion over nine movies, with $4.9 billion coming from Avatar and Titanic alone), David Yates ($5.3 billion over six J.K. Rowling flicks plus Legend of Tarzan), got their hauls nearly entirely from a given franchise.
