This season, about one quarter of players under National Basketball Association G League contracts also earned an average of $44,000 in National Basketball Association affiliate player bonuses.

G League salaries are going up next season, to $35,000 for most players and up to $385,000 for those on two-way contracts. This season, about one quarter of players under NBA G League contracts also earned an average of $44,000 in NBA affiliate player bonuses - a total of more than $3 million on top of their NBA G League salaries.

The G League will expand to 27 teams next season when the Washington Wizards introduce the Capital City Go-Go. Many athletes have criticized the college experience for athletes, even calling academics useless for star players.

The Detroit Pistons recalled four players from their G League affiliate Grand Rapids Drive through the course of the 2017-18 season - Dwight Buycks, Luis Montero, Reggie Hearn and Kay Felder. Perhaps more relevant to the issue of pay, however, is the choice of former Syracuse commit Darius Bazley to jump to the G League for his year before the NBA Draft. Starting next season, according to the new salary figures, such deals will pay $77,250 in the G League (prorated for days spent on a G League roster) and an N.B.A. rookie minimum salary prorated for days spent with their N.B.A. team.

The players receive housing and insurance from G League teams as well.
