Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has admitted that he could rest Lionel Messi and some of his other key players for Tuesday night's La Liga game away at Celta Vigo, but insisted that the Argentine will have enough energy to give his best for his country at the World Cup.

Meanwhile, former Barcelona captain, Xavi, admits with the coach's decision on Messi, saying it is good for the five-time ballon d'Or victor needs to get some game off at the club to have a fantastic World Cup tournament.

"Resting Messi is a possibility like any other, but I think he is playing well, the other day he played a good game", Valverde said on Monday.

Andres Iniesta is expected to profit considerably from his anticipated summer move from Barcelona to the Chinese Super League - and not just in terms of his wage packet.

'I'm not at the top of my game right now.

Iniesta, speaking after Saturday's 2-1 victory over Valencia that moved him closer to a ninth Spanish league title, confirmed this will be his last season with the club he has represented boy and man.

This season, Messi has scored 29 goals and has laid on 12 assists in 31 appearances in the top flight.

Barcelona are on course to win La Liga but will spend big again this summer after a shock defeat to Roma in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Barca will be desperate to go through the rest of the La Liga season unbeaten, but there are still some hard fixtures for them to negotiate, starting with Tuesday's match in Galicia against a risky Celta side.

The 33-year-old's contract is up at the end of June and, with a new deal looking unlikely, it's being reported that Iniesta plans to formally announce his departure after the Copa Del Rey final on 21st April.
