Verdict on Mecca Masjid blast to be pronounced today

Investigations are now going on against two other accused. It was a conspiracy against the Hindus, says BJP leader Subramanian Swamy.

Reacting to the development, former Under Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs RVS Mani said, "I had expected it".

Aseemanand, Guptha, Sharma, Rateshwar and Chowdary, who faced trial, were acquitted on Monday. Eventually, 10 persons allegedly belonging to right-wing organisations were named as accused in the case. Two more accused Sandeep V. Dange and Ram Chandra Kalsangra has been claimed that they have also been murdered.

Tejram Parmar and Amith Chowhan are still being investigated.

2007 Ajmer Dargah blast case: On October 11, 2007, a blast rocked the Dargah Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Rajasthan.

All 5 accused have been acquitted by the NIA special court in Nampally, Hyderabad.

Eight people were facing trial for their alleged involvement in the 2007 Mecca Masjid blast. The attack occurred on 18 May, 2007. Nearly all of them were detained at a guest house where they alleged torture at the hands of SIT. After this, the matter was handed over to the NIA by the CBI in 2011.

Owaisi took to Twitter to express his outrage over the verdict alleging that the NIA didn't pursue the case because of the "political masters".

- The evidence against the accused is not satisfactory, the court said while delivering the verdict, as per Hindustan Times report. In the blast case, the CBI had first arrested Aseemanand in 2010, but in 2017 they got conditional bail.

Another accused Sunil Joshi died earlier. "All accused persons have been acquitted", said the defence lawyer, adding that a copy of the judgement will be available after 15 days.

By July 2015, a total of 19 witnesses had turned hostile.

The Hyderabad parliamentarian accused the National Investigation agency of being "deaf and blind" and said that it did not appeal against the bail which was granted to the accused.
