The Premium is still running a Snapdragon 845 processor, but there's now 6GB of RAM (up from 4GB) to help with the extra performance demands.

While that certainly leaves Sony with room to change its mind, the bad news is that anyone in the United Kingdom wanting a smartphone with a 4K display will have to manage with the XZ Premium - which will be almost a year old when the XZ2 Premium launches elsewhere. The technology, as the name suggests, allows the Xperia XZ2 Premium to rumble along with media content, so you can 'feel your media'.

Rounding out the devices unique specifications are a 3,540mAh battery, front and back Gorilla Glass 5, and a front-facing 13MP shooter coupled with display flash. The dimensions are 80mm x 158mm x 6.4-11.9mm, and the phone weighs 236g.

Perhaps in the hope that it can topple the Samsung Galaxy S9, Sony has given the XZ2 Premium a 4K 5.8-inch screen, which improves on the 5.7-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2160) display you'll find on the original XZ2.

The 4K HDR display on the Xperia XZ2 Premium is the highest resolution display that has ever been fitted into a smartphone. There are features like Smart Stamina, Stamina Mode, Qnovo Adaptive Charging, Quick Charge 3.0 and Qi Wireless Charging.

"The dual rear cameras come with a combination 19-megapixel RGB 1/ 2.3" Exmor RS memory-stacked sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 1.22-micron pixel size along with a 12-megapixel monochrome sensor f/1.6 aperture and 1.55-micron pixel size. Most of you are aware of the fact that the ISO measures the sensitivity of the sensor. The Motion Eye Dual camera, which features a black-and-white sensor, boasts the world's highest ISO 12800 sensitivity for smartphone video, as well as ISO 51200 for photos. IP65/68 water resistance are on board, so you don't have to worry about getting the phone wet. The primary rear camera is a 12MP F/1.6 that works in unison with a 19MP camera with a F/1.8 aperture. The XZ2 Premium's speakers themselves use the same S-Force Front Surround system as the XZ2, with Hi-Res Audio, DSHEE HX, and LDAC support. We're eager to see how this phone compares not just to the rest of Sony's XZ2 lineup but other leading smartphones. The phone is launched in two colors - Chrome Black and Chrome Silver.
