Salah, in his first season at Anfield, became the first Liverpool player since Ian Rush in 1986-87 to reach the 40-goal mark and only the third from the club to reach that landmark after Rush and 1966 England World Cup victor Roger Hunt.

The 25-year-old scored his 30th Premier League goal of the season in Liverpool's 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday, becoming only the eighth man to achieve such a feat.

The Egyptian has fired Liverpool into the Champions League semi-finals and is the Premier League's top scorer.

Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah has revealed that he would value the Champions League winners medal more than any individual prize.

"If I had a choice between the Champions League and the Golden Boot, then of course it would be the Champions League, no doubt the Champions League".

Despite facing Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final second leg just a few day prior to the game, manager Jurgen Klopp chose to keep much the same side. Victory for Liverpool was another blow to Chelsea's hopes of Champions League football next season.

The Egyptian is in pole position to with the Premier League Golden Boot, where he now has a five goal lead over Harry Kane, and he is also chasing Champions League glory with Liverpool after the club progressed to the semi-finals.

It was also his 39th goal in all competitions this season. It (Rush's record) is also very close, it's just seven goals.

Despite reaching this tally, Salah says he will swap every goal which he has scored this season in return for a Champions League win. Now we still have four games and they (Tottenham) have five games so I have to think about my games and we see. I will try my best to score again and help the team.

"Each goal for me, or for anyone else, is to try to help the team".

Jürgen Klopp's team eventually advanced 5-1 on aggregate and will play AS Roma in the semi-finals.

"I am happy to have this feeling".

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has described Mohamed Salah's goal against Bournemouth as "unusual".
