Gas Prices Rise 3.5 Cents In Chattanooga

Gas prices in Virginia have continued to increase over the last week, resulting in an average price of $2.52 per gallon in Hampton Roads, according to AAA Tidewater.

Drivers in the Bradenton area already are facing the highest April gas prices in four years, and analysts are predicting costs will surge upwards of 15 cents because of the tensions in the Middle East.

Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for gas price comparison site GasBuddy.com, said that's the highest national average price since July 2015.

Meanwhile, the Energy Information Agency is reporting that crude oil production in the lower 48 states broke more records last week, topping 10 million barrels per day for the first time in recorded history.

Chattanooga gas prices still remain 25 cents per gallon below the US average of $2.71 per gallon, according to Gasbuddy.com. Prices are about 28 cents more than at the same point past year.

Be prepared to pay more at the pump, AAA Western and Central New York reported Monday that the national gas price jumped five cents in a week with similar trends here in New York State.
