New Delhi Television reports that her tiny body was recovered when plumbers tried to clear the passage. Shocked plumbers tried to remove the baby but failed as the placenta thread was still stuck to the baby and caught in the dirt.

In a shocking incident, a two-day-old baby girl was flushed down the toilet at a clinic in Kerala.

Dr Abdul Rehman, who runs a clinic next to his house, noticed an obstruction in the toilet bowl and called the plumber on Friday morning, according to a report in NDTV. It has also been speculated that the mother might have delivered the baby inside the washroom as the placenta was yet intact. Authorities believe the parents must have brought the baby to the clinic on the pretext of consultation and later flushed her down the toilet.

An investigation is now underway and police are trying to find the newborn's parents, who are believed to have fled.

The doctor filed a complaint and a case of unnatural death was filed.

"There wasn't much of a foul smell emanating from the toilet", a sub-inspector of the Nattukal Police Station told The NewsMinute. Abdul Rehman immediately informed the local police which rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The infant's body has been sent to Thrissur medical college for postmortem.

"Investigations are underway. We are analyzing the records, but we haven't been able to identify her parents yet", said police sources. Seeing the colour of the blood, the domestic worker mistook it for muddy water, ' the cops were quoted as saying by the TNM.
