Nigeria will thus have four clubs in the next round of the Confederation Cup.

They will compete in the play-offs as they seek to secure a place in the group stages of the second-tier competition.

In the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday, Enyimba and Akwa United progressed to the next round of the competition after beating their opponents.

MFM VS MC ALGERMFM FC did well to earn to a 2-1 win in the first leg at the Agege Stadium last week but the reverse fixture will be a different scenario. This is firmly new ground for the Aiteo Cup holders. The regulation time ended 1-0 in favour of Akwa.

Plateau United went on the offensive from the opening minute of the return leg played at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

Abdulrahman Bashir, who was later substituted injured, and Chinonso Okonkwo were the scorers of Enyimba's goals.

The attacking midfielder netted a brace and could have easily helped himself to a hat-trick in the 3-2 home win during a thoroughly excellent display.

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, made his debut for Enyimba against the Beninoise following his switch from FC IfeanyiUbah.

The Nigeria worldwide goalkeeper conceded two goals against the Beninoise team, including a direct free kick, and generally failed to replicate the commanding performances of Fatau Dauda. On the basis of this showing, Gernot Rohr may be set for a few sleepless nights between now and the summer.

All efforts by Plateau United to score thereafter proved abortive as the Tunisians defended tenaciously and deployed delay tactics.

Chijoke Akuneto has been the talisman for the Lagos club in this competition with two goals and Nojeem Akinyemi had a good a game in the first leg but they do not offer much like the trio of Sikiru Olatunbosun, Waheed Adebayo and Jesse Akila.
