Johnsonville Recalls 109K Pounds of Sausage

It was shipped to retail locations in 36 states.

The recalled items were produced on January 4, 2018. The sausage packaging also has an establishment number "EST".

The recall affects 14 oz. plastic packages containing six pieces of jalapeno cheddar smoked sausage with a best by date of 4/4/2018 and a Batch ID of 1001124486 or 1001124487, according to the news release. "34224" printed on its proof of inspection.

Johnsonville received three calls to its consumer hotline about the issue and, based on that information, it immediately launched an investigation and recall, said Kelly Seifert, a company spokeswoman.

The recalled product amounts to 12,500 cases (109,603 pounds) and represents a fraction of Johnsonville's overall production.

No injuries or reactions have been reported. There have been no reports of illness or injury associated with these products.

Johnsonville is recalling some products because they possibly contain foreign matter.

The site said consumers who have already purchased the product can return them for a refund or send the company a photo to get a refund either in coupons or a check.
