"We'll have the Space Force", Trump said in a speech to U.S. Marines in San Diego.

"My new national strategy for space recognizes that space is a war-fighting domain, just like the land, air and sea", said Trump.

"We may even ... develop another one, Space Force". We have the Army, the Navy.

Trump addressed Marines and other service members at an air base in San Diego after visiting his border wall prototypes. "We have the Air Force, we'll have the Space Force", he said.

The President's remarks come after a Republican plan to create a "Space Corps" as part of the Air Force was dropped from the National Defence Authorisation Act in November.

But he was very keen to talk star wars and space exploration adding: "very soon we're going to Mars".

"So think of that, Space Force, because we are spending a lot and we have a lot of private money coming in, tremendous", the President said.

Despite Trump's declared support of the idea, it is unclear how much he knows of the progress already made towards his stated goals.

Trump told the audience: "From the very beginning, many of our astronauts have been soldiers and air men, coast guard men and marines". I said: 'maybe we need a new force. Trump also made extensive comments about space and the possibility that the United States will need a "space force" to fight enemies that threaten US access to space.

After Trump renewed the "space force" proposal, Twitter completely roasted him.

The agreement states that any member state that launches a "space object" has jurisdiction over it, and is also liable for damages it causes.
