President Donald Trump told western Pennsylvania voters Saturday night that his new tariffs were saving the steel industry and urged them to send a Republican to the House so he can keep delivering those kinds of results. And, once again, Trump gave us another example of why Trump is his own - and potentially the GOP's - worst enemy.

President Donald Trump on Saturday again proposed the death penalty for convicted drug dealers.

"The ones that were brought here when they were little or born here, you have to blame their parents for not making the effort to get them the citizenship they deserve", Ireland said in an interview with ThinkProgress Saturday before the rally.

"That's why we have a problem, folks".

"The people of Pittsburgh can not be conned by this guy Lamb", Trump said, dismissing Lamb's efforts to run as a moderate Democrat.

However, he did reportedly state: "I don't know if this country's ready for it". "Thousands of people are killed or their lives or destroyed, their families are destroyed". By the way, they have much less of a drug problem than we do. Bernie Sanders, Massachusetts Sen.

He said he would welcome a battle against another television celebrity who has been a fantasy candidate for Democrats: Oprah Winfrey.

"Our new slogan, when we start running, in - can you believe it, two years from now - is going to be, Keep America Great, exclamation point", the President said.

"Oh I'd love Oprah to win, I'd love to beat Oprah".

"Do me a favor", he said to the large crowd gathered in a hangar at the Pittsburgh airport.

Trump also touted his role in South Korea's hosting of the Winter Olympics, claiming credit for temporarily reducing the nuclear threat posed by North Korea. "I said, 'What do you attribute that to?' 'Well, the death penalty'".

Trump also referred to his prospective meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

"Who knows what's going to happen?"

Then Trump went on a tangent by turning to discuss the current host of "Meet the Press", Chuck Todd.

Trump won the area by almost 20 percentage points little more than a year ago, but polls now suggest that the Republican and Democrat are essentially tied. Political observers are watching Tuesday's contest for insights into the electorate ahead of the midterm elections in November.

Trump was speaking at a campaign rally in Moon Township, Pa., in a show of support for Saccone, who faces a tough special congressional election outside of Pittsburgh.

Trump administration officials including White House counselor Kellyanne Conway and Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta have also campaigned for Saccone. Rick Saccone will be a great, great congressman. Big & happy crowd (why not, some of the best economic numbers ever).

When I noted this on Twitter, someone pointed out another way in which Trump might have erred.

For his part, Saccone was thrilled to have the president's help.

He said, "Steel is back, and aluminum is back".

Under pressure over a scandal involving a porn star named Stormy Daniels, Trump singled out his wife, Melania, for praise.

As is typical at any Trump rally, the president delighted in relitigating the 2016 election-and, also typically, got key facts wrong.
