A homeless man was found dead on the British parliament's doorstep this morning, British newspaper Daily Mail reported Wednesday in an online story. One card accompanying a bunch of flowers had been left at the request of the Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, who had sent a message to be inscribed on his behalf, the Labour party confirmed.

The Government's minister for homelessness has vowed to "find solutions" as MPs expressed shock at the death of an apparent rough sleeper just yards from Parliament. As a country we must stop walking by.

Members of Jeremy Corbyn's office said they knew the man and laid flowers at the scene last night.

'The powerful can't carry on walking by on the other side while people don't have a home to call their own.

Alongside Mr Corbyn's tribute was another card signed by "all the staff of the leader of the Labour Party".

Figures released in January found that more people are sleeping rough on the streets of England than at any point this decade, with numbers rocketing 73% since 2014.

"It's time all MPs took up this moral challenge and properly housed everyone". In late 2017, that figure sat at 4,751 people.

Ms Lewell-Buck wrote: "This totally breaks my heart, if it is who I think I and many other MPs have spoken to him and helped him out where we could".

In 2010, at the end of the last Labour government, 1,768 people were reportedly sleeping rough.

On this occasion, the council's outreach services discovered the body, and attempted CPR until police and paramedics arrived.

He added: 'Anyone anxious about a rough sleeper can visit to alert our teams and allow us to provide routes off the street and into safety'.

A spokesperson added: "At this early stage in the investigation, the death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious".

A House of Commons spokesman said: "We are saddened to hear of the death of an individual this morning at Westminster Tube Station and offer our condolences to their friends and family at this hard time".
