The FBI was alerted to an alarming comment on YouTube from a user named Nikolas Cruz, who posted months ago that he planned to become a "professional school shooter", according to a MS man.

"The comment simply said, 'I'm going to be a professional school shooter.' No other information was included with that comment which would indicate a time, location or the true identity of the person who made the comment", Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Rob Lasky said at a press conference.

BuzzFeed writes that vlogger Ben Bennight emailed the agency in September of a year ago, saying someone had left a comment claiming they were "going to be a professional school shooter".

"I'm going to be a professional school shooter", a commenter wrote previous year on YouTube under the name "Nikolas Cruz".

"The comment simply said, 'I'm going to be a professional school shooter, '" Lasky said.

But they were back in touch on Wednesday following the mass shooting.

According to Bennight, FBI agents from the MS field office were at his George County home questioning him within 24 hours after he reported the comment to authorities.

Nikolas Cruz, 19, allegedly massacred 17 people and injured dozens more in a bloody gun rampage at his former school in Parkland, Florida, yesterday.

Someone going by "Nikolas Cruz" left a threatening comment on a YouTube video in September, bragging, "I'm going to be a professional school shooter".

Bennight said he also flagged the comment to YouTube, which removed the comment from the video. "All it was on my channel was a comment", Bennight said.

"I think in today's online world, it is very hard to narrow down who does what without more information", Bennight told CNN's Jake Tapper later Thursday, "and unfortunately, I wasn't able to provide them with much". But FBI officials did contact Bennight 30 minutes after Cruz was in police custody and left a voicemail. Cruz was expelled from the school for disciplinary issues. "They asked me if I knew who he was", he said.

BuzzFeed News first reported that the YouTube vlogger says he made the warning.
