The CNN contributor and former Central Intelligence Agency analyst was lost for words while speaking with host Wolf Blitzer on the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

The high school massacre is the eighth mass shooting at a school in America this year and one of the 10 most deadly in United States history.

Some analysts became emotional and had difficulty expressing their thoughts. Can we not acknowledge in this country that we cannot accept this? "We're talking about bump stocks; we're talking about legislation".

"It's not", Mudd began of the Valentine's Day slaughter in which yet another gunman used an "AR-15 style" weapon. He then excused himself from the interview, saying, "I can't do it, Wolf".

While discussing the shooting at Majory Stoneman Douglas High School by Nikolas Cruz on Wednesday, Philip Mudd became overcome with emotion and exclaimed 'a child of God is dead'.

"Unfortunately it happens all too often", Blitzer said.

Earlier that month, 58 people were killed and almost 500 injured in the country's deadliest mass shooting in modern history.

The shooting in the Parkland school once again brings back focus on gun control laws in the U.S. and questions on why citizens should be permitted to own guns are likely to be raised again.

"As we speak, there is a horrific scene playing out at a high school in South Florida", Murphy said. It only happens here, not because of coincidence, not because of bad luck, but as a effect of our inaction.
