Kathy Griffin has recalled the infamous "severed Trump head" incident that saw her blackballed past year, as she prepares to hit the comeback trail and resurrect her career.

The comic added that she wasn't initially fazed by the death threats, or the canceled gigs, or even the public criticism from friends like Anderson Cooper (whom she has not spoken to since).

Griffin said her mother, Maggie (l)., did not like the infamous photo.

. It's huge.' And my lawyers looked at me like, 'What are you doing?' The agents got very interested and were like, 'What is it for?' And I was like, 'It's not for anything.

Griffin and her boyfriend, Randy Bick, had originally planned to avoid watching the broadcast, which Griffin had previously hosted with former friend Anderson Cooper (the two haven't spoken since Cooper called Griffin's photo "disgusting and completely inappropriate" on Twitter.) However, once they began receiving texts that the show was a "trainwreck" without her on it, they made a decision to tune in.

Donald Trump tweeted: 'Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself.

The comedian told THR she received death threats and the Federal Bureau of Investigation got involved.

Reportedly, she lost her friendship with Cooper and it "ended nearly immediately after he tweeted about her photo".
