Out-of-favour PSG winger Lucas Moura met Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy in London on Thursday to discuss a move to Spurs.

"This is a fantastic boost for Arsenal, especially when the same questions about whether Arsene (Wenger) should have gone in the summer are still surfacing".

The Blues wouldn't be looking at a permanent deal for Giroud, however, with Italian journalist Gianluca DiMarzio claiming that a loan deal until the end of the season would be the club's preferred option, although Giroud himself is apparently unconvinced by such a deal.

Meanwhile, Mkhitaryan will have the opportunity to make his debut under new boss Arsene Wenger on Tuesday, as Arsenal travel to South Wales to take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

"Whenever Arsenal play against Chelsea and win, it's significant, so to do so in the semi-final of the League Cup is bonus territory". The player has experience in the Premier League having previously turned out for Manchester City from 2011 to 2016.

It's understood Borussia Dortmund were keen on Giroud being included in a potential deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but the Gunners rejected this move.

The club is preparing to offer Aubameyang a contract that will almost double the weekly wages he earns at Dortmund with the forward's latest deal bringing him to £170,000-a-week. It has recently been revealed that the 30-year-old also has a relegation release clause in his contract. Ligue1 side Rennes looks to be his likely destination, even if it would be more fun if he teamed up with Mamadou Sakho and Bakary Sako at Crystal Palace.
