Pair arrested on suspicion of murder after man found dead in flat

Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man at a flat in east Belfast.

The police and emergency services were called to the flat before 10 am, where the deceased was found with serious injuries to his head and face.

He was pronounced dead a short time later and a post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death.

He said a 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

They have appealed for the taxi driver who picked up three males and one female in Belfast city centre at 2am on Saturday and dropped them in the London Road area of east Belfast to contact them.

He added: "Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100 percent anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime".
