Crew SC trades striker Ola Kamara to Galaxy for Gyasi Zardes

According to a reports by the LA Times and by ESPN, the LA Galaxy have traded USA global Gyasi Zardes along with allocation money to the Columbus Crew for striker Ola Kamara.

Both reports state that Columbus will receive $400,000 in guaranteed allocation money in the deal, plus another $100,000 should Kamara score 12 goals next season to trigger the incentive. Meanwhile, Kamara has been a star for Columbus in his first two years in Major League Soccer, scoring 16 goals in 2016 before netting another 18 last season, leaving him third in the league in goals scored over those two seasons. Crew SC had been in discussions with multiple clubs, including at least one overseas, over the services of the Norway striker, sources had told ESPN FC. Aside from Romain Alessandrini, who had 13, no other player scored more than six goals.

"We are very excited to bring Ola to Los Angeles", said Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid in a statement. A little more than two dozen MLS forwards earned more than Kamara in 2017. Zardes, who earned $577,500 previous year, leaves the Galaxy after spending his entire pro career with the Southern California club, helpling LA win the 2014 MLS Cup. In his past three seasons combined, he has registered 14 regular-season goals. Zardes, who is now participating in the United States national team training camp, has earned 37 caps with the U.S.in the past three years, most recently in last summer's Gold Cup. "We are excited to welcome Gyasi to Columbus,"Crew coach Gregg Berhalter said". "Gyasi is a talented forward that has been successful in this league and with the USA men's national team".
