North Korea agreed to send a delegation to the February 9-25 Winter Olympics in the South Korean city of Pyeongchang and hold military talks aimed at reducing frontline animosities.

In the first formal talks between the two nations in more than two years last Tuesday, North Korea agreed to send a delegation, including athletes, cheerleaders and an art troupe, as well as high-ranking government officials, to the Olympics.

South Korea is also seeking to form a united women's ice hockey team with the North, according to media reports.

He said the matter would be discussed on Saturday when officials from the two Koreas and the International Olympic Committee meet at International Olympic Committee headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, according to South Korea's sports ministry.

At the Olympics, members of North Korea's Moranbong Band will travel to South Korea.

Stories suggested she was romantically involved with Kim before he married his wife Ri Sol Ju, herself a former performer and a member of North Korea's cheer squad known as the "army of beauties" in South Korean media.

The two nations also agreed yesterday to hold talks at Panmunjom tomorrow on logistics and details for the visit by the North's athletes.

"This is why all those crotchety hawks evinced such skepticism at North Korea's talks", tweeted Robert Kelly, a professor of political science at Pusan National University in South Korea.

South Korea's unification ministry said on Wednesday that the North had offered to send 230 members of its all-female cheerleading squad to the Games in Pyeongchang. The western route links Paju, Gyeonggi Province, and the inter-Korean Kaesong industrial park - which was shuttered in 2016 on suspicions it was funding the North's nuclear weapons program.

Tillerson also rejected a Chinese-Russian proposal for the North to halt its nuclear weapons and missile programs in exchange for the US and South Korea ending their joint military exercises on the Korean peninsula. Construction of the resort, close to the city of Kanggye in the north of the country, near the border with China, began in July past year on the orders of leader Kim Jong-un. South and North Korea reached this agreement during a working-level meeting at the Tongilgak (Unification Pavilion) on the North Korean side of Panmunjeom on January 15 that was held to arrange a visit to South Korea by a group of North Korean artists.

The Olympic truce struck at the North Korean/South Korean border is a gold medal bargain for all involved.

"He even made such rubbish that the North was led to dialogue to open up the chapter for 'the North's denuclearization, ' not for the improvement of the South-North relations", KCNA reported.

On Friday, a North Korean state-run publication issued a demand for a "permanent halt" to U.S.

The "scope and timing of the exercises suggest a renewed focus on getting the country's military prepared for what could be on the horizon with North Korea", it added. While it's not a major winter sports competitor, North Korean athletes have set several weightlifting world records and its women hold a high profile on the world football scene. More than 80%, however, said they welcomed the North's participation in general.
