If you're lucky enough to be selected for the taster then you'll receive an email from Sony with instructions on how to get started. According to Game Rant, Japanese fans have until January 23rd to sign up.

Sony has announced that PS4 update 5.50 is on the horizon, with the hardware giant now in the process of testing the patch ahead of its official roll out. Those who wish to opt out of the trial can roll back to a previous system software version at any time. Users must be 18 years or older.

Furthermore, you can also have it set to automatically add your account to future betas without having to register again. As token of thanks for testing the software and enrolling in the program to receive the updates automatically, Sony is giving away a PSN avatar. Your feedback helps us make the system software update even better.
