The Twitter account of Syed Akbaruddin was hacked early today, with the unperturbed Indian envoy to the United Nations asserting that it would take more than a hack to keep him down.

The Twitter account of Syed Akbaruddin, India's ambassador to the United Nations, was hacked late on Saturday allegedly by Turkish hackers.

The pictures were posted during the wee hours of Sunday, and also the "blue tick" that marks a verified account also disappeared at the time. In 2016, nearly 200 government websites were hacked in India. Thanks to @TwitterIndia & many others who helped. It will take more than a hack to keep me down. Not only did it inspire several remakes by Turkish filmmakers in the 1960s and 1970s, it also generated several cover versions by Turkish musicians. Two Dutch hackers had claimed to have hacked into seven Indian high commission websites and published database of people of Indian origins, including their passport numbers, email ids and phone numbers.
