With an eye on bolstering cyber security protocols and cracking down on leaks to the media, Chief of Staff John Kelly issued a memo to staff on Wednesday outlining the administration's new ban on personal cell phones within the West Wing complex of the White House.

The White House did not respond to a CNN request for comment.

The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to publicly describe the conversation.

Trump's contemptuous description of an entire continent startled lawmakers in the meeting and immediately revived charges that the president is racist.

The hosts of Fox & Friends appear to be fully aware of their influence - and to revel in it. New York Times television critic James Poniewozik wrote in July that Fox & Friends is "the most powerful TV show in America".

Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the top-ranking Democrat on the House intelligence committee, said Trump's tweets were "inaccurate, conflicting and confusing". A White House spokesperson further explained the White House intends on presenting an infrastructure framework that relies on $200 billion in government spending, but is agnostic as to whether state and local governments burden the public with any shortfall through user fees, or rely on private investment to make up the difference.

Trump's remarks were remarkable even by the standards of a president who has been accused by his foes of racist attitudes and has routinely smashed through public decorum that his modern predecessors have generally embraced. Both have pleaded not guilty.

CNN reported last year that details from the dossier were used in part to get a warrant to monitor Trump adviser Carter Page after the FBI independently corroborated them.

The nation's top spy bosses scrambled to the White House early Thursday to urge President Trump to restate his support for a controversial surveillance law after he spent the morning trashing it on Twitter.

Despite Trump's complaints, his administration is sticking by the law as its stands.

The Trump administration announced late last year that it would end a temporary residency permit program that allowed nearly 60,000 citizens from Haiti to live and work in the United States following a devastating 2010 earthquake.

Former campaign aides Corey Lewandowski, Jason Miller, David Urban and David Bossie have all been raised as possible candidates to fill the job.

Republicans have alleged that Obama administration officials improperly shared the identities of Trump presidential transition team members mentioned in intelligence reports. Mike Rubino, a Trump campaign aide who joined Lewandowski's lobbying firm, is considered a potential addition to help share some of DeStefano's burden, a person familiar with the deliberations said.

"The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used", Trump insisted in a series of Friday morning tweets.

The vast portfolio represents a massive undertaking - too massive, worry some officials, who have expressed concerns that DeStefano is being set up to fail.

Trump has inaccurately claimed that Barack Obama, the nation's first black president, wasn't born in the United States. House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., also joined in by telephone.
