The Cyborg Solo Movie Could Be An Origin Story

Hopes were high for the big screen debut of Ray Fisher's character Victor Stone (also known as Cyborg) in Justice League - but, when the movie proved to be something of a disappointment, and Cyborg in particular felt somewhat under-used, the spinoff for the character that Warner Bros. has long had planned for 2020 seemed less than guaranteed.

While Morton - who revealed past year that he signed a three-picture deal with DCU to appear in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League and the Cyborg film - says there aren't any plans for him to pop up in any other DC movies, he couldn't have had more fun filming Justice League.

Speaking with ET, Morton said Cyborg should still be in development and spoke about what the film will be about.

"It will be about him and I, and about the family that he came from, how he becomes the Cyborg, etc.", he said. Morton, who plays Cyborg's (Ray Fisher) father, Dr. Silas Stone, in 2017's Justice League, however, tells ET that a Cyborg movie is definitely a possibility. "But from whence he came, as well".

Morton went on to praise the film for being a positive representation of black superheroes, something he doesn't think there is enough of in spite of our heavily superhero-focused pop culture.

"I think it's very exciting".

"To sort of be around Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon, to watch the work that they do and to work with the other actors, other characters, it was just a lot of fun. So to jump literally across the Atlantic Ocean and go into a DC comic book was just kind of a head spinner, but it was a lot of fun". Cyborg has appeared on and off DC's slate, first being a solo movie before the character was teased for The Flash's solo film as a type of buddy story.

With a tentative release date of April 3, 2020, Cyborg will star Ray Fischer as Vic Stone and Joe Morton as Silas Stone.
