The most inspirational moment of the night however has to go to Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot who was awarded the #SEEHER honour award, a gong aimed at recognising the importance of accurately portraying women in film.

"The "Wonder Woman" star Gal Gadot, who was honoured with the #SeeHer award at the 2018 year's Critics" Choice Awards, delivered a powerful speech while accepting the award.

The #SeeHer campaign, started by the Association of National Advertisers a year ago, aims to "push boundaries" and "recognize the importance of accurately portraying women across the entertainment landscape". "She knew the great importance of this character and what she could mean to the world if well done", said Jenkins before presenting the award to Gadot, who led the film that would cross the $5 billion mark at the global box office in 2017. "She's full of heart, strength, compassion, and forgiveness". She sees wrong that must be made right.

Gal thanked Patty when she took the stage, she thanked the director to give her opportunity to inspire women of all age groups.

Gadot also alluded to the #MeToo campaign by mentioning the industry's role in educating for respect.

The night wasn't without its other references to the sexual misconduct reckoning that has impacted the industry (and also drastically altered the tone of this awards season). She commands the attention of the world, and in doing so, she sets the positive example for humanity.

Gadot added that when she began her career, there were very few female-led films, and even fewer female directors.

'There were eight other films in the top 100 that were directed by females.

Dedicating her award to the men and women fighting for change, she said: 'I want to share this award with all the women and men who stand for what's right, standing for those who can't stand or speak for themselves. "Although this is progress, there is still a long way to go". She concluded her inspiring acceptance speech with a commitment to "never be silenced" and continue to work together toward a common goal of equality.

The actress shared the official envelope declaring the film the victor, including the caption, "Thank you to the Critics for recognizing Wonder Woman as best action movie!".

Gadot and Jenkins will be teaming up again for a Wonder Woman sequel, slated to hit theaters on November 1.
