After leaving the luxury auto brand, Fisker started his own company and has filed patents on a new type of solid-state battery, which can be charged faster and has greater capacity than leading lithium-ion batteries, at least in theory. This technology will eliminate the conventional lithium-ion battery and allow recharging in a just few minutes. Although the technology is still in its infancy, these new batteries are created to be cheaper and smaller than their lithium-ion counterpart. This lovely and rather unique machine is the latest electric vehicle to hit the market, offering up the latest breakthroughs in battery, charging and electric motor technologies. According to the company website, the car's range will exceed 400 miles.

Despite Fisker conceding the tech was at least two years away, he told the Irish Times that the breakthrough will hopefully come from Dr Fabio Albano.

Aside from EMotion being fully electric, it boasts of its capability to charge swiftly once it has finished creating the new flexible solid-state battery and supercapacitor technology that it has developed. "He believed that he was close to a breakthrough".

"We are addressing all of the hurdles that solid-state batteries have encountered on the path to commercialisation, such as performance in cold temepratures, the use of low cast and scalable manufacturing methods and the ability to form bulk solid-state electrodes with significant thickness and high active material loadings", Albano said.
