Man Utd and Chelsea battle rivals for £45m-rated Brazil wonderkid

Chelsea are reportedly still keeping tabs on Gremio midfielder Arthur.

Gremio remain keen to sell the Brazilian, who they signed two years ago and is expected to go to the World Cup in Russian Federation next summer, and Chelsea and United are believed to be interested in securing a January move.

His performances at the heart of Gremio's midfield have led to interest from Barcelona, with the 21-year-old pictured in one of their shirts last year.

The prospect of Arthur signing for Barcelona has also been complicated by the £142m signing of Philippe Coutinho, with the Spanish club now trying to offload over a dozen players to balance the books, according to the Daily Mail.

That angered Gremio who insisted a deal had not been struck and demanded that he would only be allowed to leave for his £45million buyout clause.

And those spots are now taken up by Philippe Coutinho, Paulinho and Yerry Mina.

And Gremio are keen to strike a deal with either of them now for between £30m and £35m.

That seems like a decent deal for a player of Arthur's quality in today's market so the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea or Man Utd could now be tempted to step-up their interest in the South American.
