The German club's private conversations are claimed to be different to what they are saying in public and if Liverpool agree to meet their price, the midfielder will become a Red this month.

Keita was signed from RB Leipzig a year in advance last summer, but the Reds are now reportedly desperate to bring the deal forward, albeit having to pay a premium in the process.

The German newspaper say "internally it's clear" at RB Leipzig that Keita can go if Jurgen Klopp gets Liverpool to stump up €95m in total.

Furthermore, his versatility means that he can comfortably change positions with wingers and attacking midfielders, confusing the opposition defence as they can never be sure who is playing in which position.

Liverpool FC are believed to be on the lookout for midfield reinforcements this month after they allowed Coutinho to sign for Barcelona on Monday.

In earlier reports, Kicker revealed a contract clause with a €75 million fee for Keita only due in the summer if Leipzig qualify for the Champions League - with Liverpool allegedly paying €10m less should Leipzig fail to qualify for European competition.

It offered further proof that Keita has lacked enthusiasm in recent weeks, something that Bild have reported.

The possibility of that happening was rubbished by Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuttl on Thursday.

With the Reds losing out on Coutinho's world-class technical dribbling and passing around the box, a move for the dynamic and game-changing Naby Keita could see the Reds forget about Coutinho very soon.

RB Leipzig now lie fifth in the Bundesliga, which resumes this weekend after the winter break, and want to keep Keita for a renewed push to qualify for the Champions League, as well as for their Europa League campaign, where they face Napoli in the last 32.

The Guinea global, who joined Leipzig from Salzburg in summer 2016, has featured 20 times in all competitions so far this term, producing five goals and one assist.
