Ryan and the Falcons will hit the road to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday afternoon.

On the verge of Saturday's NFC playoff against the Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan declined to comment Wednesday on missing yesterday's practice.

The Falcons are two wins away from a second consecutive appearance in the Super Bowl, but must get past the NFC's No. 1 seed in a game that will broadcast on 11Alive and NBC.

Ryan was in the building on Tuesday before leaving for his personal matter.

Team spokesman Brian Cearns said Tuesday the Falcons did not plan to give a reason for his absence, adding that Ryan would address the matter when he meets on Wednesday with reporters "if he decides to do so".

Ryan's wife, Sarah, from Falmouth, Maine, announced in November that the couple expects to become first-time parents in April with twins.

"For you guys that have been around Matt, he's one of the very best competitors and most professional ball players that I've been around", Quinn said.

Wide receiver Julio Jones, who had nine receptions for 94 yards at Los Angeles to help the Falcons beat the Rams last week, did not practice Tuesday. Quinn said Jones remains day-to-day with ankle and rib injuries.
