'It is encouraging that the two countries show good will and join hands at a time when the situation on the Korean Peninsula is quite tense, ' Lu said at its regular press conference.

South Korea has offered to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) holding a working-level dialogue next week in the truce village of Panmunjom to discuss details on the DPRK's participation in the South Korea-hosted Winter Olympics, Seoul's unification ministry said Friday.

The DPRK proposed to South Korea holding a working-level dialogue on January 15 in Tongilgak, a building controlled by the DPRK in the truce village of Panmunjom, to discuss the dispatch of its art troupe to the South Korea-hosted Winter Olympics.

It was a counterproposal to South Korea's offer on Friday to hold working-level talks on January 15 at the Peace House in the South Korean side of Panmunjom to discuss the dispatch of all delegations from the DPRK, including the art group.

The two sides reportedly agreed that the North (DPRK) would send a large-sized delegation, including athletes, a support squad and officials, to the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympic Games that are scheduled to kick off on 9 February 2018 in PyeongChang in the South (ROK).

Seoul and Pyongyang also chose to hold separate military talks after agreeing efforts should be made to ease military tensions, create a peaceful environment on the peninsula, and promote reconciliation and unity of both sides.
