McCabe said he had been buying the full English breakfast staple, made by award-winning Aberdeenshire butcher HM Sheridan, for more than 20 years - and his loyalty was rewarded when the 1.5kg sausage proved just the thing. He said it was the first time he had heard his black pudding, which he supplies to the Queen and the Prince of Wales being used to batter a door down.

Meat is frozen solid in the freezer in just half an hour, and although Chris was only stuck for a few minutes during the incident on 15 December, he believes he would have died within half an hour.

Quick-thinking Chris hit away at the lock with the frozen pudding until eventually, the lock broke.

"I'm lucky really, we sell about two or three each week and that was the last one in there", he told the Daily Mail, adding that "black pudding saved my life, without a doubt".

Chris McCabe, a 70-year-old butcher from the United Kingdom, battered his way out of a freezer with a frozen blood pudding sausage.

ANTI-BREXITEER Who is Gina Miller?

The father of four got trapped inside a walk-in freezer in his shop in Totes, Devon, when the door blew shut, BBC noted.

He frantically looked around for something to save him - but couldn't find anything to de-ice the emergency release. It was solid, pointed and I could get plenty of weight behind it.

That was when the idea of a black pudding sausage came to mind.

He grabbed a leg of lamb, but it was too big to make a direct hit on the button.
