Ossai, who is a member of the Screening Sub-Committee for the convention, therefore called of members of the party to vote for candidates who were experienced and ready to work to return the party to power. It's a good omen to everybody in the PDP.

"We call on President Buhari to investigate and ensure that those who want to disrupt the convention refrain from doing so".

Adeyeye however said there was no truth in an allegation that some people wanted to tamper with the list, assuring that the list would be made available to the aspirants at least 48 hours before the convention.

According to him, the PDP while in power never interrupted programmes of other political parties, "rather it encouraged the growth of other parties", he said.

"We have credible information that some overzealous elements in the APC Government want to disrupt the PDP national convention".

"It is not from the very top". Adeyeye further alleged that some people serving under the President Muhammadu Buhari administration are trying to disrupt their convention.

The elder statesman was speaking when he received members of the PDP Convention Planning Committee led by their Chairman and Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, at his residence in Minna, the Niger State capital.

He urged Buhari to go the extra mile to ensure that the PDP convention was successful by providing sufficient security in and around the arena.

Dokpesi also said that PDP Governors are performing better than their APC counterparts.

The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the claim that the APC was afraid of conducting its convention "is an empty platitude" lacking in substance.

The lawmaker said that there was no disunity among the party members, pointing out that organizing the convention was a signal of the strength of PDP.

"He also appealed to PDP leaders in the South-South to see Nigeria as a country that must be united and not divided along ethnic line".

"All you need to do is pick up the constitution of the party and see whether Atiku is qualified to vote or not. So, it is not new and there is nothing wrong for a politician to move from one party to another".
