Everton and West Ham join Evans chase

West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans has reportedly attracted the attentions of David Moyes at West Ham United.

Evans was a summer transfer target for Manchester City, Arsenal and Leicester, with all three clubs having offers for the 29-year-old turned down as West Brom stuck to an asking price in excess of £30 million. Of course not. Do I fear losing him?

Speaking to Sky Sports, Pardew said: "Jonny Evans is our captain".

"I have some good history with Nicky Hammond in terms of what we did at Reading and I trust him 100 per cent on the transfer front and with the scouting team", said Pardew.

Pardew recently took over from the sacked Tony Pulis and the former Newcastle United boss led his side to a 0-0 draw against fellow strugglers Crystal Palace in his first game in charge. "Of course I do".

Alan Pardew's men travel to Swansea City on Saturday afternoon and are priced at 2/1 for the win.

"The earlier you have those talks the better, and we have had those talks this week".

It seems Evans' continued impressive performances at the back have earned him a great deal of admirers, as West Ham and Everton will now try to lure the Northern Irishman away from the Hawthorns as they attempt to solve their defensive woes. A six-pointer is when there's two games to go and you need to win six points to stay in the division.

Evans will now face a hard choice going into the second half of the Premier League season, with the option of becoming a squad player at runaway leaders Manchester City - or remaining with first team football elsewhere.

"We need to win at least nine games to be safe and hopefully after Saturday it'll be eight games".
