Armed Forces Flag Day observed

Every year, December 7 is observed as the "Armed Forces Flag Day" throughout the country since 1949 with an aim to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform who not only fought valiantly for the country's honour and safety but laid their lives for the sake of the motherland. President of India Ram Nath Kovind met with the officers of the Kendriya Sainik Board at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. On this day, funds are raised for the well-being of the serving jawans, and also for providing rehabilitation to the battle victims, and supporting their families.

Bedi, who inaugurated the celebrations by contributing to the Flag Day Fund, said families of ex-servicemen and other service personnel should be taken care of as a mark of gratitude.

Paying tribute to the heroes of the armed forces during the Armed Forces Flag Day, observed at the Raj Bhavan on December 7, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Dr BD Mishra, and First Lady Neelam Misra donated towards the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. "I made a cashless contribution for the welfare of our courageous soldiers, who protect us and keep our country safe". West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote, "Today is Armed Forces Flag Day".
