The abductors of Chief Damishi Sango, Plateau PDP chairman and former sports minister, have demanded for N100 million ransom.

The Publicity Secretary of PDP in Plateau State, John Akans, confirmed the incident in an interview with The PUNCH in Jos on Thursday. But at about 6p.m., when someone called one of the persons Sango travelled with, a policeman picked the call and told him (caller) that they found the phone in a vehicle abandoned on the road.

The victims were on their way from Jos to Abuja to submit the list of delegates from the state to the party's National Secretariat, preparatory to the National Convention of the PDP slated for Saturday.

Sango was abducted with his companions along Jere-Kagarko road in Kaduna state while travelling in a Lexus jeep which has now been stationed at the Jere police station.

Mapis quoted Sango as telling family members that the five of them were safe. None of them have been released. I woke up this morning with a lot of missed calls and when I called his personal assistant, he broke the news that Chairman was kidnapped on his way to Abuja.

"The abductors have contacted the family". It was the security operatives that told the family that their breadwinner had been kidnapped because the vehicle that was abandoned drew the attention of the security operatives. We want to know if they (abductees) are alive and in good condition.

He said that the Plateau Police Command had reached out to the Kaduna Command on the matter.

The sad incident happened along Jere Road in Kaduna state. But let me confirm that Damishi Sango has been kidnapped because we have received the signal from Kaduna.
