Uttarakhand quake measuring 5.5 Richter Scale hits Rudraprayag; tremors in north India

Everything was moving for a while. People rushed out of their homes in Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Dehradun district as the strong tremors were felt. Most of the Delhiites came outside of their home to save themselves; also, children's got scared of a strong quake vibrations. With epicenter at Rudraprayag district (latitude 30.4 north and longitude 79.1 east and focal depth of 30km), the tremors were felt around 8:50pm in Uttarakhand, Delhi and NCR. It was measured 5 at the Richter scale. No immediate loss of life or property was reported. It is also known as the third most earthquake-prone city in India. In the last 24 hours this is the second natural disaster in Uttarakhand. On Tuesday, a 3.3 magnitude quake was reported. It falls in the Himalayan region.

The natural disaster struck the region at 20:49 (08:49 pm) at a depth of 30 KM. Many people took to Twitter just after they felt the quake.
