The new generation upgrades also extend to Grand Theft Auto Online, an ever-evolving Grand Theft Auto universe.

GTA Online gets a new heist on 12 December-The Doomsday Heist is described as an "epic new online adventure" that sees your criminal crew contending with "apocalyptic" threats.

In the video below, you might notice submarine cars flying in the air, jetpacks and a new rocket launching tank-like vehicle.

According to the press release, The Doomsday Heist's plot is centered around four different individuals - a billionaire tech tycoon, an impractical intelligence agent, a gawky conspiracy theorist, and an insane supercomputer that have been forced to team up to save San Andreas from being destroyed.

You and your crew are recruited to unravel the mysteries and take down the looming threat, taking the fight from downtown Los Santos to the ocean floor, and even into the "inner depths" of Mount Chiliad.

Doomsday Heist is the first new co-operative multiplayer heist mission to be added to GTA Online in over two years, bringing the total up to six.

Whether that's the only Christmas surprise Rockstar have in store is unclear, but it's possible they may have a Red Dead Redemption 2 announcement to make on The Game Awards tonight - as they've appeared at the event before.
