London Mayor Sadiq Khan arrives in Pakistan

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said on Wednesday that Lahore is a thriving business centre with great potential for London businesses.

The Mayor of London has started off his six-day visit to India and Pakistan aimed to promote business and cultural ties between the two countries and the United Kingdom.

The Mayor was received by Lahore Mayor Colonel (retd) Mubashir and Lahore Commissioner at the border.

Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, who would be hosting a dinner in the honour of Sadiq Khan, took to Twitter and welcomed the visiting dignitary.

Khan, who is of Pakistani-origin, reached Lahore with his 16-member delegation through the Wagah border with India.

Earlier Sadiq Khan was earlier in India for around three days where he held meetings with government officials, members of the civil society and entertainment industry. He visited Mumbai, New Delhi and Amritsar before heading to Lahore. Khan is expected to stop over in Karachi and Islamabad.

The visit is the first by the mayor of London to both South Asian rival countries in recent years.
