Jamestown man allegedly sets woman on fire

Police in Jamestown responded to a report of a woman being set on fire Tuesday night. Jamestown police responded Tuesday around 11:35 p.m.to 210 Thayer St. where they found a 27-year-old woman with burns to her face, head and torso.

The woman was taken to UPMC WCA Hospital and then immediately flown to ECMC in Buffalo.

Luis Castro-Mojica, 37, was charged with assault in the first degree. The victim is reported to be in critical condition.

Castro-Mojica, who was also wanted on three other domestic incident warrants, was taken into custody and is awaiting arraignment in the city jail.

"The quick action of the officers who arrived at the scene allowed for a safe apprehension of the suspect", Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department told The Post-Journal.

Police said additional charges are expected as their investigation continues.
