The smartphone is expected to be the Finnish startup's foray into the bezel-less smartphone segment. As per the reports, Nokia 9 is all set to launch in the market.

There are many rumors and leaks that HMD Global is hosting a Launch event in China on January 19 to unveil Nokia 9. Also, some rumors are indicating that the company could release the Nokia 9 along with Nokia 8. This hints that the smartphones may not have Google services and might come with some Chinese counterparts.

According to Chinese sources, HMD Global is working on a new edition of its popular Nokia 8 smartphone along with the all new Nokia 9 smartphone. The protective case of the smartphone that was spotted on Amazon UK pointed at a curved-glass display, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

The report went on to claim that the Nokia 9 won't be the only device to be announced at the scheduled event but come with 2018 version of the Nokia 8 which could be dubbed as Nokia 8 (2018). The device is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor, mated to 2GB of RAM and Adreno 308 graphics. The cell phone will have no earphone jack.

Moreover, the leaked images suggest that the Nokia 9 with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage will be available in China for CNY 3,699 (approximately Rs 36,000), while the 6GB RAM and 128GB variant will be available for CNY 4,199 (approximately Rs 40,900). HMD global has started rolling out an Oreo update for 2017 Nokia 8 last month.

A report on news.mydriver has indicated that the Nokia 9 has a 2K display with a 5.5-inch screen. An exact release date wasn't provided, but we can expect it to arrive sometime next year, probably in the first quarter. For an extra strong build, HMD Global will throw in IP67 certification for water and dust protection, which means that it can survive a dip in shallow water. It would only need to ensure availability and timely launch of devices to remain competitive. The company has even surprised to claim top spot in Middle East and number three in the United Kingdom and Indonesia.
