Lexus may have finally released a three-row crossover with the debut of the 2018 Lexus RX L, but the brand is already thinking bigger with the LF-1 crossover concept that is going to debut next month in Detroit.

From what we can see in the only published image so far, the Lexus LF-1 Limitless will flaunt a dramatically more dynamic body, with a sloping roofline and a heavily inclined rear window.

A product of Toyota and Lexus' Southern Californian design studio, the flagship SUV concept is expected to evolve the car-maker's current striking design language.

Thought to have been developed to sit above the LandCruiser-based LX 570 in the Lexus SUV range, the new LF-1 is tipped to share architecture with the luxury LS limousine.

The carmaker is withholding as much information as it can for now, merely stating the concept "heralds a new genre of luxury crossover" and that it "seeks to redefine the boundaries of luxury".

More details will be available when the Detroit Motor Show opens its doors in January.
