Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore is leading Democrat Doug Jones by one percentage point, according to a recent poll.

That led to a Twitter exchange between Kimmel and Moore that excited both sets of followers - 69,800 for Moore and 10.5 million for Kimmel.

It began when Moore took issue with Kimmel's show sending a comedian to crash a talk Moore was giving at a south Alabama church Wednesday night.

While the Alabama GOP continues to support Moore, a number of national Republican leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, have said they don't want him in the Senate.

"When we sit down, I will share with you what I learned at my church".

That night, Kimmel elaborated on their dispute and set the terms for their showdown during his opening monologue. There is no one I would rather fight than you.

Kimmel went on to explain that he's a confirmed Catholic who prays, attends church, and is best friends with a priest.

"I accept that invitation".

Kimmel went on to reference a rumor that Moore was banned from an Alabama mall for his interactions with underage girls, and he agreed to meet Moore at that same mall with a group of cheerleaders. I'm going to come to Gadsden, Ala., with a team of high school cheerleaders, okay?

The host then spoke directly to the people of Alabama. Those don't exactly scream "Christian values" to me, nor should they to anyone else in this country.

Kimmel later noted that if the two were to engage in fisticuffs, he would donate any ticket proceeds to charity.

Former Alabama Supreme Court Justice turned Senate candidate Roy Moore has been fighting back against the allegations against him, that he preyed sexually upon teenagers, at least while he was in his 30s, possibly even beyond that, and as usual, late night talk show hosts jumped on this, because Roy continues to basically tell us that none of this is true, even though we have multiple women, multiple witnesses, multiple organizations saying, "Yes, this all happened". Alright, tough guy, with your little pistol?
